Eureka!

Last week, my husband and I visited our hometown, Eureka, California. We left VERY early Monday morning because it is a long ten hour drive from Washington to Northern California. The drive was exhausting and uneventful besides the rock that left a chip in the windshield which has now evolved to a foot and a half crack over the past week.
First, we stopped at Trees of Mystery, one of my favorite places, for a quick potty break and our first pics of the trip.

That is Paul Bunyan and his blue ox, Babe.
On Tuesday, we went to the South Jetty for a bonfire and some fun in the waves.

Sokka dug a hole and pretended to be an ostrich while the guys played a game involving sticking sticks in the sand and seeing who's stayed put the longest, also who could get it the farthest into the waves. My mother-in-law and I decided it was too cold to get that wet.
Wednesday, I went bowling with my siblings. (My brother and I abducted my sister from school with the help from our dad who called to get her excused from after-lunch classes).

We all bowled in the 50s. And I never won a game.
Then we decided some coffee and cookies were in order from Old Towne Coffee and Chocolates.

We also saw the new Pirates of the Caribbean in theaters with my hubby after my parents took us all out for dinner at Bear River Casino.
Thursday, my sister and I saw Kung Fu Panda 2. (Again, my sister missed school. I might be a bad influence, but my parents condoned it.)
Friday, my husband and I went to King Salmon beach with our puppy. Corey caught a crab, hoping he could introduce it to Sokka and it might pinch his nose, but instead Sokka tried to eat it and broke it's leg before we freed it back into the ocean. The bigger crab he sniffed in later pics was already dead.

Friday night, Corey's parents had a chicken-in-a-barrel party. Lots of his family came and the food was great. The dogs were worn out by the time the night was over.
Saturday, we said our goodbyes before the long drive home Sunday morning.
This will probably be the last trip home before our move to Japan.
