I haven't gotten in the blogging habit yet, so here is another random post!
A week ago I did this to my leg.
The first picture is the outline, then they moved right to adding the color. They were working on my leg for 3 1/2 hours!!! It's been exactly a week, and it still hurts. Worse, I have to go back in 2 more weeks because she wants to add white highlights to the clouds and do any touching up the tattoo needs after the healing process. Unfortunately, there are indeed some touch ups...
This one I got back in November, but thought I would share it because it is the molnija mark from one of my favorite book series, Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. If you haven't read it, please do. It is a great YA series. Her other 2 series, Dark Swan and Georgina Kincaid are also among my favorites and are geared towards adults. Dark Swan is actually my favorite of the three, but the molnija tattoo fit more with me because I was in school studying Atmospheric Sciences and the tattoo resembles 2 crossed lightning bolts.
I also have a third tattoo you can barely see the edge of in the above picture. It is a purple star. No special meaning. I just liked it and wanted a tattoo. That one I got when I was 18, which was over 3 years ago.
Back to the owl. It represents my love for the supernatural. They represent the angel of death in some cultures. In ancient Greece, they were the animal associated with the goddess Athena. In other cultures, owl feathers were used as protective talismans. They also have associations with the occult. I just love them in general. They are beautiful birds. Plus I am totally a night owl! That's when I am most awake and functional.
